Hill Country Gardens
Seasons

There is a privacy about it which no other season gives you ..... In spring, summer and fall people sort of have an open season on each other; only in the winter, in the country, can you have longer, quiet stretches when you can savor belonging to yourself. Ruth Stout

Autumn in theTexas Hill Country.....the best time of the year.

The best time to hike the Balcones Canyonlands, the best time to visit plant swaps, sales and exhibits.  The best time to plant a garden.

By now you should have stomped in those wildflower seeds into the earth for next years butterflies.  In the coming months you can plant new trees and shrubs, move or divide your perennials and sit back and enjoy your autumn garden,

The birds are more active, getting ready to move on South.  The butterflies are migrating and the gardens looks like it's full of fluttering leaves.

The native grasses are shooting airy plumes toward the sky and the ripening seeds are being eyed by the songbirds.

Summer was too hot for both the gardener and the plants.  Winter will be cold and damp.  Autumn is the very best time.
